Primary Care

What to Expect at a Primary Care Appointment
A primary care appointment is designed to help monitor your overall health, address medical concerns, and create a plan for maintaining your physical and mental well-being. During your visit, your provider will take time to get to know you, review your health history, and discuss any symptoms or concerns you may have.
At the beginning of the appointment, a medical assistant or nurse may:
- Check your blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight
- Review your medications and allergies
- Update your medical history
- Ask about tobacco, alcohol, or substance use
Your provider will then meet with you to discuss:
- Current symptoms or health concerns
- Past medical history
- Mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, or sleep difficulties
- Family medical history
- Lifestyle habits including diet, exercise, and sleep
Depending on the reason for your visit, your provider may:
- Perform a physical examination
- Order lab work, imaging, or other diagnostic testing
- Prescribe or adjust medications
- Discuss preventive care and wellness recommendations
- Provide referrals to specialists if needed
Primary care appointments may also include discussions about:
- Preventive screenings
- Immunizations
- Chronic condition management
- Mental health support
- Nutrition and lifestyle goals
At the end of the visit, your provider will review the treatment plan, answer questions, and discuss any recommended follow-up appointments.
Our goal is to provide compassionate, patient-centered care that supports your long-term health and wellness.
